1. What is the Institute of Energy and Technology Development? +

The Institute of Energy and Technology Development, operating under Solar Tree Investments, is a Botswana-based training and industry development institution focused on renewable energy, compliance, TVET skills, and capacity building.

2. Is IETD accredited? +

Yes. IETD is a BQA-accredited training provider and also offers HRDC-recognised short courses depending on the programme.

3. Where is IETD located? +

IETD is located in Block 7, Gaborone, Botswana. Training may also be offered in other locations depending on demand.

4. Does IETD only offer solar courses? +

No. IETD offers programmes in renewable energy, data protection, compliance, TVET skills, and emerging industries.

5. Can IETD deliver training outside Gaborone or regionally? +

Yes. IETD can deliver training in other parts of Botswana and across the region, subject to demand, logistics, and agreed arrangements. We also offer customised training services for organisations, companies, NGOs, institutions, and groups that require tailored capacity development aligned to their specific needs, sector, location, and target participants.

6. Who can register for IETD courses? +

Courses are open to individuals, youth, women, entrepreneurs, professionals, companies, NGOs, and institutions.

7. What is the difference between Solar Energy and Solar Rooftop Installation? +

Solar Energy is a broad foundational course, while Solar Rooftop Installation is a specialised technical course focused on grid-tied systems.

8. Are the courses practical? +

Yes. Courses include both theory and hands-on practical training.

9. What do the fees cover? +

Fees cover tuition, including both theoretical and practical training.

10. Will I receive a certificate? +

Yes. Participants who meet requirements will receive certification.

11. Does the IETD certificate expire? +

No. The certificate issued by the Institute of Energy and Technology Development does not expire, because the knowledge and skills gained through training remain valid.

However, IETD is required to periodically renew its short course recognition/accreditation with relevant bodies such as HRDC, usually after a set cycle. During this process, course content may be reviewed and updated to remain aligned with current industry needs, standards and emerging developments.

Where major content updates are introduced, IETD may invite previous participants to attend a short refresher or upgrade component so that their knowledge and certificate record remain aligned with the latest version of the course.

12. Do you offer discounts? +

Yes. A 10% discount is available for women and youth.

13. How do I register? +

Registration can be done via WhatsApp or directly through the website.

14. Can companies register employees? +

Yes. Companies, NGOs, and institutions can register staff for training.
